Which cosmetic dentistry procedure is right for me?
When you come to CityLife Dental, Dr. Hong will create a custom plan to help meet your cosmetic dentistry goals and your oral health needs. The methods are chosen based on your overall goals for cosmetic dentistry, the extent of the damage to your tooth or teeth, your budget, and your current oral health. Some of the possibilities include:
For those with no structural issues with their teeth, a simple whitening procedure can reduce the appearance of stains and discoloration in the tooth enamel. Some whitening procedures are conducted in office, while some patients conduct whitening at home with custom whitening trays.
Veneers are ceramic or resin material that’s bonded to the tooth or teeth in question. They are often used to repair chipped or broken teeth, or to cover severely-stained teeth. Veneers are colored to match the surrounding teeth for natural-looking results.
Implants are often used to replace a missing tooth. This surgical procedure installs a post into the jawbone which holds the new tooth in place. Implants are considered a permanent solution to replacing missing teeth.
A dental bridge is used to replace a missing tooth or support a weak tooth. They require placement of crowns on either side of the tooth in question, which are then utilized to hold the replacement tooth in place. A bridge is a less-permanent solution compared to implants.
Crowns help restore teeth to their former shape, size, and strength. They are generally used when a tooth has been weakened by a large filling, root canal, or other dental work. They can be used in conjunction with bridges or implants.
Tooth bonding literally bonds a composite resin to a tooth with a chip, discoloration, gaps between teeth, or other cosmetic issues. This temporary solution typically lasts for a few years, and a patient may need to be cautious when biting into hard foods.
Full mouth rehabilitation
Severe cosmetic dentistry cases may require full mouth rehabilitation, in which most or all teeth are replaced. Full mouth rehabilitation typically involves a combination of the above procedures. It may also include the use of dentures.
Straighten your teeth without traditional metal braces. Invisalign® clear liners are a series of clear trays worn over the course of a few months which slowly shift your teeth into their proper place. Removable and virtually invisible, Invisalign® performs the same job as traditional braces without the complicated installation or multi-step maintenance.
Invisalign® clear aligners at CityLife Dental
As one of the leading providers of Invisalign® in the greater New York area, hundreds of CityLife Dental patients have straighter, more confident smiles thanks to our work.
Is cosmetic dentistry covered by insurance?
Some patients choose to voluntarily undergo cosmetic dentistry services to restore their smiles, while some patients need cosmetic dentistry to address serious issues which impact their oral health. However, unlike general dentistry, which provides essential care for proper oral hygiene, cosmetic dentistry is generally regarded as elective by insurance companies and therefore not covered under their plans. It is recommended that you speak with your insurance agency to confirm what’s covered in your plan.
Select qualified patients are eligible for financing plans offered by CityLife Dental.
