Which cosmetic dentistry procedure is right for me?

When you come to CityLife Dental Care NYC, Dr. Hong will create a custom plan to help meet your cosmetic dentistry goals and your oral health needs. The methods are chosen based on your overall goals for cosmetic dentistry, the extent of the damage to your tooth or teeth, your budget, and your current oral health. Some of the possibilities include:

Whitening

For those with no structural issues with their teeth, a simple whitening procedure can reduce the appearance of stains and discoloration in the tooth enamel. Some whitening procedures are conducted in the office, while some patients conduct whitening at home with custom whitening trays.

Veneers

Veneers are ceramic or resin material that’s bonded to the tooth or teeth in question. They are often used to repair chipped or broken teeth or to cover severely-stained teeth. Veneers are colored to match the surrounding teeth for natural-looking results.

Implants

Implants are often used to replace a missing tooth. This surgical procedure installs a post into the jawbone which holds the new tooth in place. Implants are considered a permanent solution to replacing missing teeth.

Bridges

A dental bridge is used to replace a missing tooth or support a weak tooth. They require placement of crowns on either side of the tooth in question, which is then utilized to hold the replacement tooth in place. A bridge is a less-permanent solution compared to implants.

Crowns

Crowns help restore teeth to their former shape, size, and strength. They are generally used when a tooth has been weakened by a large filling, root canal, or other dental work. They can be used in conjunction with bridges or implants.

Bonding

Tooth bonding literally bonds a composite resin to a tooth with a chip, discoloration, gaps between teeth, or other cosmetic issues. This temporary solution typically lasts for a few years, and a patient may need to be cautious when biting into hard foods.

Full mouth reconstruction

Severe cosmetic dentistry cases may require full mouth reconstruction, in which most or all teeth are replaced. Full mouth reconstruction typically involves a combination of the above procedures. It may also include the use of dentures.
